Position Overview
As a key leader within the Processing Team, the Superintendent Process Operations plays a critical role in driving operational excellence and embedding a strong safety culture at the Ekati Diamond Mine. Reporting to the Head of Processing, Asset Optimization and Site Services, this position works a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation and is based on site. The Superintendent is expected to be a visible, active leader in the field, demonstrating a hands-on approach to guiding teams and collaborating across all levels and departments of the organization.
The successful candidate will bring strong operational leadership capabilities, demonstrating an ability to lead self and others, mentor frontline supervisors, and inspire high performance through disciplined execution, empathy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring that Health, Safety, Environment, and Security programs are embedded in all operations. Lead by example with visible commitment to safety in the field.
- Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including the NWT Mines Health & Safety Act.
- Provide strong operational leadership to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable processing operations aligned with business objectives.
- Mentor, coach, and develop frontline supervisors and team members, building individual and teams’ skills and competencies, ensuring training programs delivery and supporting career growth.
- Be a visible and engaged leader onsite — regularly present in the field, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and operational discipline.
- Set clear goals and actively contribute to the strategic planning of processing operations; align daily activities with long-term objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and excellence across all aspects of the operation.
- Oversee and optimize departmental budgets and cost management; continuously evaluate processing methods, equipment performance including OEE, and champion capital investment proposals as required.
- Ensure robust technical management of the process plant performance, applying best practices to maintain safe, efficient operations and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Build and sustain a positive, high-performance team culture through effective communication, trust-building, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Degree in Metallurgical, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
- At least seven (7) years of progressive experience in mineral processing or metallurgical plants operation, technical processing roles, preferably in diamond processing.
- At least five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to gain buy-in both from within team and from other departments is essential to the success of this role.
- Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred
