Job Description

As a Principal Project Manager at Nokia, you will be at the forefront of driving complex projects that merge hardware and software development within our Project Management Office. Your leadership will guide cross-functional teams in delivering cutting-edge optical modules, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals. You will thrive in a collaborative environment where you engage with diverse stakeholders, including executive management, to navigate challenges and champion innovative solutions. Your proactive communication and problem-solving skills will play a key role in keeping projects on track while fostering a culture of efficiency and excellence. The hybrid work environment in our Ottawa location encourages flexibility, with an expectation of being onsite three days a week, allowing you to build strong relationships with your team while also enjoying the benefits of remote work.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Drive the successful execution of multidiscipline programs that combine hardware and software development.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in defining program scope and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Create, track, and manage detailed schedules and milestones for product development from concept to mass production.
  • Facilitate effective communication across stakeholders, including executive management, on status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Champion best practices in project management, including adherence to Nokia's Product Life-Cycle Process and conducting milestone reviews.
  • Proactively identify and resolve interdependencies and issues that may impact program success.
  • Mentor and guide team members from diverse backgrounds, fostering collaboration and consensus across disciplines.
  • Utilize project management tools, such as Jira, to enable efficient tracking and reporting of project activities.

Key Skills And Experience

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven track record managing large global technology initiatives
  • Experience in both hardware and software project management
  • Strong competency in Jira for project tracking and management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience in the telecommunications or optical industry
  • Certification in project/program management (e.g., PMP)
  • Familiarity with both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Ability to effectively lead diverse groups with varied skillsets
