The role:

Are you passionate about creating great learning experiences? We are seeking a Sr. Instructional Designer to join our Freedom Mobile Retail Learning team. Our Instructional Designers are experts in designing and developing effective learning solutions for our Retail stores. They are responsible for creating valuable, interactive, and engaging content for our learners through blended learning approaches that use a combination of tools and platforms. The Sr. Instructional designer is a key member of every initiative we roll out to our front-line employees, and they work as part of the larger team of stakeholders to ensure that our employees are well-prepared for this exciting, competitive, and changing industry.

A Typical Day

This role is a critical contributor to our retail training and go-to-market strategy. As a Sr. Instructional Designer, you will lead training projects to ensure they are completed on time, on budget, and with exceptional quality and effectiveness. This may include working directly with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and different departments. Our Instructional Designers are responsible for the planning, analysis, design, and development work to help launch successful learning solutions to the business.

Some of the key accountabilities you will have as a Sr. Instructional Designer at Freedom are:

  • Building relationships with our business stakeholders to stay close to business priorities and needs.
  • Conducting needs assessments to understand learning and business gaps, which will help you develop learning solutions that make a true impact.
  • Using learning methodology to build learning objectives, instructional design documents and storyboards to ensure learning solutions deliver on anticipated outcomes.
  • Using a variety of learning development tools to build learning solutions.
  • Evaluating learning outcomes and business impacts.
  • Help lead strategic planning and decision-making processes
  • Help manage internal documentation and knowledge management for the learning and development team
  • Oversee and manage complex projects from inception to completion

This role will occasionally require you to facilitate virtual and in-person training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field such as Learning and Development, Human Resources, or Graphic Design, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in a relevant role
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing e-learning courses for customer-facing roles.
  • Proven expertise and deep understanding of industry practices.
  • UX and graphic design skills will be considered an asset.
  • Video design and production skills will be considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Instructional design models, including ADDIE and SAM
    • Learning theories
    • Adult learning principles
    • Training evaluation methods (theory and application)
    • Instructional Design best practices
  • Utilize instructional design theories, practices, and methods to optimize learning.
  • Incorporate multimedia tools to enhance the learning experience.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, and Vyond or similar)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Experience with visual design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud – Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, you will be expected to present learning plans or walkthroughs to stakeholder groups.
  • Experience managing content in a modern LMS.
  • Learning and Development certifications will be considered an asset.
  • Retail experience will be considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
