PRIDE Seeds is currently seeking a focused and self-motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time permanent Inventory & Quality Coordinator.

Position Summary

The PRIDE Seeds Inventory & Quality Coordinator is responsible for performing correct quality testing, sizing, grading and seed counting for all seeds processed by AgReliant Genetics Inc. To print all tag needs for all grades of seed as required to meet government quality standards. Conducts periodic inspections of finished product prior to seed deliveries. The position is the primary contact with Canadian Seed Institute (CSI) and The Canadian Food and Inspection (CFIA). Works as part of the Inventory and Quality team whose combined duties are to ensure the accuracy of inventory and quality of seed sold meets rigorous standards.

Reports to Inventory & Quality Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all seed lot samples to analyze for screenings and evaluation of grades and quantity of seed supplies.
  • Ensure accurate seed count of all product lots before processing so that correct quantity is bagged by variety.
  • Computer generates all seed tags to be affixed to related bags.
  • Conducts continuous checks of bagged seed lots to ensure that the quality and weights adhere to the government weights and measures act.
  • Process and report all pedigreed tags activity to CFIA and reports all required seed testing information to SCI and CFIA and appropriate company personnel.
  • Ensure sampling and coordination of quality testing of all seed prior to purchasing, during and after processing and at appropriate time intervals when seed is carried over from one year to the next with appropriate lab sites. Maintain listing of samples shipped for testing in Citrix, Inventory and Data Entry.
  • Organize samples for inbred and hybrid seed corn winter grow outs and electrophoresis testing.
  • Monitor seed bagging and labeling operations to ensure compliance with the Canada Seeds Act and any additional Company requirements.
  • Maintain favourable relationship with The Canadian Seed Institute (CSI), The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) at all levels.
  • Assists in field production-related activities as required during the months of July and August. (I don’t think this is being done now)
  • Maintains records of all seed tests performed.
  • Maintain accurate quality records for all inventory items.
  • Works closely with other IQ Assistants to ensure continuity of activities.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Duties may be amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years quality control related experience in the seed industry.
  • Seed grading experience.
  • Ability to attain and maintain:
    • GB Grader Accreditation as defined by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
    • AC Operator/Grader Accreditation as defined by CFIA
    • Authorized Importer (AI) Accreditation as defined by CFIA
Knowlede/Skills/Abilities

  • Valid Driver’s Licence and clean driving record.
  • Crop knowledge.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical labour.
  • Ability to work in varying climates and conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, and dust.

Notation

  • Role is a salaried position: 40 hours per week, with occasional Saturdays and overtime, paid as an annual salary.
  • Position is in-office in Pain Court, Ontario.
  • “Regular” schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with one 30-minute unpaid break daily.
