SpeechDojo Classroom Instructor

SpeechDojo Education Foundation

Date: 11 hours ago
City: Edmonton, Alberta
Contract type: Full time
Remote
Overview:

While SpeechDojo consists of several teams to fulfill this mission, the Classroom team is made up of instructors who deliver virtual public speaking lessons to elementary and junior high school students. Since SpeechDojo’s establishment in 2018, the Classroom team has taught in 100+ classes in Alberta and has reached over 3000 students.

Role Description:

Classroom instructors teach 2 elementary/junior high classes per year, one in the fall (September-January) and one in the winter semester (February-May). Classes happen weekly over Google Meet, last approximately 20-45 minutes, and take place during the school day. For this reason, our applicants must ensure they have spare time during usual elementary/junior high school hours (8 AM-4 PM MST). The time commitment is approximately 3 hours per week, including preparation, delivery, and attending weekly meetings. As part of the Classroom team, instructors also have an active role in improving SpeechDojo’s curriculum and practices.

Candidate Profile:

It is preferable for prospective instructors to have some experience with public speaking, such as being on a Speech and Debate team. Teaching experience and experience working or volunteering with kids is an asset. We are looking for team-oriented individuals who enjoy working collaboratively with others toward a shared goal.

Benefits to Joining:
  • Meaningful volunteer work that visibly gives back to the community that you appreciate.
  • Joining a tight-knit team of like-minded individuals and building your professional network.
  • Shaping young kids into confident community leaders who are successful in their academic and professional careers
