This Position Reports To
Supervisor, Systems Engineering Research
The ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Québec is a global leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is Canada’s top supplier of spaceborne optical sensors, used notably for greenhouse gas emission monitoringand global weather forecasting. Our facility is also widely recognized for its expertise in the development and manufacturing of various products that fulfill a wide range of industrial analysis needs.
By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Québec, you will actively contribute to customer projectsand to the research and development of our technologies. You will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, performing diverse tasks while ensuring compliance with and continuous improvement of our engineering methodologies, tools, and processes.
As an Engineer or Scientist, you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams, working in close collaboration with other specialists to ensure and guide the design of analytical instruments for process analysis products.

As an Engineer or Scientist, you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams, working in close collaboration with other specialists to ensure and guide the design of analytical instruments for process analysis products.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact directly with the project manager and clients to understand technical needs
- Act as the technical point of contact for clients
- Maintain strong and trusted client relationships throughout all project phases
- Ensure system compliance and manage technical risks
- Iterate with the client to refine and clarify requirements
- Define and manage system and subsystem requirements
- Capture and track requirements for systems of varying complexity
- Lead system design and architecture
- Create system models
- Track system performance metrics
- Develop technical budgets and define appropriate margins
- Deliver presentations in both English and French to clients and internal teams during design reviews or other key milestones
- Collaborate with the Integration and Test team to define test plans, strategies for verification and validation
- Ensure technical coordination across departments within the project team
- Lead weekly project meetings with the technical team
- Track technical action items and manage short-term scheduling
- Support the project manager with strategic and execution-level planning
- Estimate the level of effort required to meet objectives and ensure alignment with those estimates
- Ensure adherence to intellectual property regulations and promote compliance within the team
- Guide the technical team and support development of systems engineering tools and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Act as a leader in continuous improvement activities
- Travel occasionally to client sites (in the United States and internationally) and to other ABB offices
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied sciences, or equivalent.
- Experience in the development of optical instrumentation.
- At least 2 years of experience as a technical lead on projects including Requirements tracking, from system level to components; Development of control systems; Development of systems, subsystems, and various electro-optical equipment
- Good knowledge of standards and norms such as INCOSE, MIL-STD, ISO, and others.
- Proficiency with the following tools: MagicDraw (Model-Based Systems Engineering) or equivalent, Windchill (product tree, document tree, management, BOM), Microsoft Office suite.
