Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Red Seal Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy forestry equipment at job sites across Nova Scotia. This is a field-based position requiring travel to various locations with a fully equipped service truck.

Location: Truro, Nova Scotia & surrounding areas

Job Type: Full-Time

Wage: $38.72 per hour paid weekly + $2000 sign on bonus

Schedule: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends or emergency call-outs. 10-hour Day and night shifts with overtime available

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment including harvesters, forwarders, and trucks.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with dispatch and customers.
  • Operate service truck and maintain tools and parts inventory.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification or equivalent in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (required).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Forestry Equipment and truck and trailer experience considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (Class 3 or higher an asset).
  • Ability to work independently in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
