Boralex has been providing renewable and affordable energy for over 30 years. The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operates renewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage.

This position is part of the Development group, and is the primary resource for coordinating Boralex’s responses to major Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”) as solicited by various utilities and government and private organizations in the United States and Canada. This includes calls for energy or energy storage projects as well as Renewable Energy Credits (“RECs”), and involves coordinating Boralex teams and resources across various functional areas in creating the RFPs proposals. This individual is also the point of interaction with the RFPs soliciting entities in post RFP submission processes, including negotiations of the resulting contract, ongoing compliance with rules of the RFP, and compliance with the terms of the offtake contracts during transition of the projects from the RFP stage to the ongoing development and construction.

Role

You will play an important role in:

  • Be responsible for delivering highest quality RFP submissions that are complete, accurate, error free, on time, and in full conformance with the requirements of the RFPs.
  • Coordinate inputs from subject matter experts across departments, manage the overall bid submission schedule, and ensure timely internal reviews and approvals of RFP deliverables
  • Work closely with management of various functional units of Boralex to identify the internal and external resources needed to create the RFP submissions. Coordinate the formation of the RFP project teams.
  • Understand the market rules and dynamics that impact the project RFP proposals and the resulting contracts.
  • Stay ahead of the RFP team activity and anticipate team needs to ensure that all facets of the RFPs submissions are fully understood and addressed. Provide direction and leadership to the project team and structure the timelines and the RFP team activities with regards to the RFP requirements.
  • Be the expert resource in the process of informing the RFP project team of the RFP process and content requirements, disseminating the RFP information and updates, and clarifying any RFP issues that require clarification or interpretation.
  • Be the point person in negotiating and finalizing the offtake contracts, or any other contracts stemming from other RFPs in other jurisdictions.
  • Interact with functional and technical experts within Boralex as well as outside consultants to ensure that the content of the projects proposals and any resulting offtake contracts are internally consistent and address the requirements of both the RFP and Boralex.
  • Contribute to and participate as needed in presentations and updates to senior management.
  • Provide support in any other commercial and projects activity as the M&A and EC team needs arise.

To Succeed In This Position, You Need

  • Ideally, a combination of an engineering and a business/legal degree, with at least 5 years of experience in project development, project management, or contract management roles.
  • Excellent coordination, conceptual, and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of all elements of a power generation or power storage project’s development, assessment, contracting, and internal approvals process.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to completely comprehend and interpret RFP documentation, instructions, requirements, and associated contracts.
  • Excellent understanding of value levers in energy offtake contracts. Ability to conceptualize and communicate complex value elements in a contract and focus on the Boralex desired outcomes.
  • Very strong informal leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead large project teams incorporating senior employees. Ability to effectively direct and achieve results with a project team that does not formally report to this position but is tasked with achieving a successful project outcome.
  • Ability to act with and project high degree of competence and calm leadership style under time pressure, shifting and competing priorities and deadlines, and at times heavy workloads.
  • French language fluency is required.
