Our Assessment Department is looking for a dedicated Assessor to join the team.
Do you have an interest in valuing real estate? We are looking for the right person to cover an 18 month maternity leave.
Position Responsibilities
The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting salary $36.11 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.

Position Responsibilities
- This Assessor position will be an entry-level role in the administration of the assessment process.
- Assist in the organization/maintenance of an inventory of properties and will work to ensure that the assessed values represent market value, affirming fair and equitable assessments.
- Requires the ability to classify basic properties accurately and make quality judgment decisions on various property attributes for new and existing properties.
- Capable to confidently and effectively communicate/defend the assessments to third parties, including but not limited to, taxpayers, special purpose groups, internal department personnel, and external agencies.
- Promote a high level of customer service while following the City's Guiding Beliefs.
- High school diploma plus a two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in property assessment or related field, from a recognized post-secondary institution;
- Proficient with Assessment software and Microsoft Office;
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license, provide vehicle for business use and acceptable driver's abstract;
- Previous property assessment experience is preferred, but candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lesser rate of pay.
