About the workplace
As the Director of Talent Acquisition, you will lead a high-impact team responsible for shaping and delivering an equity-centered hiring strategy that supports the organization’s growth,
transformation, and purpose-driven mission. You will steward inclusive, transparent, and efficient recruitment processes that enable Vancity to attract, select, and onboard exceptional talent while embedding equity, Reconciliation, and accessibility into every stage of the candidate journey.
This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role will require you to work in-office at least once a week.
A typical day would involve:
Strategic Leadership & Design
- Lead the enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy aligned to business priorities, equity goals, and workforce planning objectives.
- Translate growth strategies into proactive and inclusive recruitment plans that reflect labour market realities and internal capacity.
- Serve as a key advisor to senior leaders and executives on complex hiring needs, and market dynamics.
- Champion the integration of equitable hiring practices across all stages of the recruitment lifecycle - from job design and marketing to interviews, selection, and onboarding.
Team & Operational Oversight
- Manage and coach a team of Talent Acquisition Partners and Coordinators to deliver high-quality candidate and hiring leader experiences.
- Build team capacity through continuous learning, coaching, and feedback, with an emphasis on equity fluency and systems thinking.
- Implement systems, tools, and analytics that drive insight, transparency, and efficiency across recruitment processes.
- Partner with HRIS and Analytics to continuously assess performance metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, candidate experience, equity outcomes).
Equity, Inclusion & Community Building
- Co-lead employment branding efforts to amplify Vancity as an employer of choice for equity-deserving communities and emerging talent.
- Build and steward partnerships with community-based organizations, post-secondary institutions, and identity-based professional networks.
- Advance equitable hiring through candidate outreach strategies that increase representation and inclusion - with a focus on Black, Indigenous, Trans communities.
Collaboration & Integration
- Collaborate closely with Talent Development, Total Rewards, Employee Experience, and HR Business Partners to ensure alignment across the full employee lifecycle.
- Work with the VP, Talent, Equity & People and organizational leaders to embed trauma-informed, culturally safe practices in recruitment and onboarding.
- Contribute to M&A integration efforts, workforce planning projects, and organizational design initiatives to ensure equitable and sustainable transitions.
You have:
- 7-10 years of experience in talent acquisition, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing equitable and inclusive hiring practices.
- Deep understanding of systemic barriers and structural inequities in employment systems.
- Strong ability to lead teams, manage ambiguity, and influence at the executive level.
- Experience building partnerships with equity-seeking communities and external networks.
- Strategic thinking paired with operational excellence — able to move between systems-level and day-to-day work fluidly.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in unionized and regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Truth and Reconciliation principles and accessibility legislation.
- Proficiency in using HRIS systems (e.g., UKG,) and recruitment analytics tools.

The salary range for this role is $121,000 to $181,200 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
