Position Summary
Casual Part-Time Support Staff position
The Test Centre Invigilator supports Conestoga’s partnership with EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) by administering the provincial Math Proficiency Test (MPT) for teacher candidates. Students from across the province must complete this test in order to be eligible to work in their field.
The Invigilator ensures smooth, secure testing both in person and online, providing tech support and monitoring for academic integrity.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with the ability to work on-site at the Waterloo, Brantford, Kitchener and/or Milton campuses. The Invigilator may be scheduled to work Monday through Saturday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Schedules change on a weekly basis based on operational requirements and shifts are assigned based on invigilator availability and business needs.

Responsibilities
- Invigilate tests and exams in person and online, ensuring academic integrity
- Provide clear instructions to test takers, including how to log in for computer-based exams
- Read the test day script confidently and clearly
- Use Zoom, screen sharing, and dual monitors effectively
- Monitor the exam room or online platform while tests are in progress (typically three hours)
- Prevent academic misconduct (e.g., cheating)
- Support students who need accommodations during tests and exams
- Navigate the MPT online database to view test sessions, booking information and candidate details; respond to all chat messages from candidates in a timely manner
- Welcome candidates, check their identification against registration lists, and assign seating
- Collect and account for all exam materials after the test session and return them to the Test Centre Office securely
- Respond to unexpected occurrences with professionalism, authority, and a calm demeanour (e.g., a student forgets their ID)
- Escalate incidents and issues appropriately to the MPT Officers
- One-year certificate in office administration, business, information technology, social sciences, arts, humanities, or a related field is required
- Fluency in French and English, including excellent verbal, written, and comprehension skills, is required; ability to demonstrate bilingualism in both official languages will be assessed
- Minimum one-year practical experience in customer service, proctoring, test administration and/or office administration
- Familiarity with testing administration and experience working with test-takers is considered an asset
- Able to invigilate both in-person and online, with strong skills in using web-conferencing tools
- High level of computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
- Comfortable using technology and willing to learn new tools
- Knowledge of adaptive technology is an asset
- Experience supporting individuals who require accommodation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently, make sound decisions and solve problems using good judgment
- Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required
