Engineer, Mine

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Mining and Rock Mechanics, you will serve as a key link between the Technical Services and Mine Operations teams. As a Mine Engineer, you will manage operational expectations and scope changes through active communication and help resolve complex mining challenges that impact safety and productivity. Based out of the corporate office you will take regular visits to northern site operations.
In this role, you will:
- Support current operations by resolving mining-related problems affecting health, safety, and operating economic.
- Provide technical input for new deposit assessments and evaluate economic feasibility.
- Liaise with site staff to address technical issues related to ground control, dewatering, hydrogeology, ventilation, mine design.
- Participate in mining-related studies ranging from conceptual to feasibility-level design.
- Conduct regular site reviews to evaluate compliance with corporate engineering standards, quality Management System (QMS) procedures and mine regulations.
- Support operating mine sites and collaborate with corporate development, exploration, and mineral resource management (MRM) teams to ensure safe production and future growth.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in geological, geotechnical or mine engineering
- Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Four to eight years relevant production mining experience (underground mining would be an asset)
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
- Effective communication, planning and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Strong proficiency with 3D mine design software (Deswik and Vulcan)
- Experience in planning and scheduling
- Ability to work with little supervision and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Recommended:
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) Designation
- Experience in backfill, shotcrete, and grouting recipe creation, planning, placement, and QA/QC
- Experience in raisebore/drillhole design and layout creation.
- Experience in longhole stope/drillhole design and layout creation
- Experience and/or knowledge of NATM mining techniques
- Experience in other underground mine engineering functions (drafting, geotechnical monitoring, surveying, ventilation/Ventsim)
- Familiarity with mine planning software (Deswik)
- Familiarity with geotechnical software (Unwedge, RS2, Map3D)
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
