As an Accountant at SEG, you’ll dive into the fast-paced world of sports entertainment, managing the financial aspects that keep our operations running smoothly. This role involves handling a range of accounting tasks specific to the sports sector, including financial reporting for major events, day to day operations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will report directly to the Group Controller, contributing to the overall financial strategy and success of the group.

Primary Duties

• Bookkeeping Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Reconciliation Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordination with Sponsorship Team Collaborate with the sponsorship team to manage financial aspects of sponsorship agreements, including tracking payments and ensuring timely processing of invoices.
• Commission Calculations Accurately calculate commissions to be paid.
• Sales Support Maintain sales-related schedules to help our team track their progress and success.
• Financial Statements Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements through the reconciliation of various accounts, providing a clear picture of our financial performance.
• Auditor Support Assist in preparing fiscal year-end working papers for auditors, ensuring a smooth audit process.
  
  
  

Requirements

• Experience Matters 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.
• Education Accounting degree or diploma, or a combination of applicable work experience.
• Excel Competence You need to be competent at creating detailed spreadsheets.
• Efficiency is Key Process paperwork efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner, contributing to the seamless operation of our finance department.
• Professionalism Always maintain a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude, fostering a great work environment for you and your colleagues.
• Versatility Handle accounting files for various departments, making every day at SEG unique and challenging.
• Sports enthusiast Background or passion for hockey, lacrosse, or baseball is highly preferred.
• Flexibility Be prepared to take on other duties as assigned by management, embracing new challenges with enthusiasm.
• QBO Experience Experience with Quickbooks Online (QBO) is considered an asset.
