MARKETING DESIGNER - Canada Office
As a member of the Story & Creative team, the Marketing Designer plays an important role in contributing to the implementation of team strategy and developing tactical outputs. The role has a particular focus on creating visual assets for marketing campaigns and brand-building initiatives that leverage both powerful stories and data to inspire new and existing donors. Outputs include the development of a number of materials including reports, presentations, proposals, brochures, briefings and graphics that help tell the story of our work and our impact while aligning with our brand identity.
Reporting to the director of Story & Creative, the Marketing Designer role resides in the Marketing & Development (M&D) team, and works collaboratively and cross-functionally across the organization to support content needs. The role’s core mission is to develop strategies and materials that will position and raise awareness of Children Believe’s work to help build trust and engagement across a wide variety of stakeholders, including Canadian supporters, peer organizations, corporate and private donors and Government.
This role includes, but not limited to:
- Directly contribute to Children Believe’s fundraising and brand-building by identifying visual assets that leverage powerful data and stories to effectively reach key audiences including governments, foundations and international partners.
- Working with cross-functional, global teams to collaboratively develop powerful materials that align the organization during campaigns and initiatives. Created materials include but are not limited to reports, presentations, proposals, brochures, fact sheets, briefings, blogs and graphics.
- Edit and design program reports as per annual plans, including the corporate annual report and knowledge products, ensuring accuracy, consistency, coherence and adherence to Children Believe in-house style and brand standards.
- Leverage insight from the Financial Annual Report to act as a primary source of organizational impact data to augment communications to donors and other Children Believe audiences.
- Support the planning, implementation and promotion of fund-raising and advocacy events, such as International Development Week.
- Contribute to strategic positioning to build and strengthen the public profile of the CEO and executive leadership team as they engage with external and internal audiences. Contribute to the CEO’s growing thought leadership and credibility by leveraging programmatic expertise in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Director, Story & Creative and the Chief Marketing and Development Officer.
The ideal candidate possesses:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, strategic communications, public relations or related field.
- Certifications/accreditation in graphic design, digital marketing and content marketing are considered assets.
Experience
- A minimum of five years of relevant progressively responsible experience in graphic design, marketing, strategic communications or public relations, preferably with an NGO in the international development sector.
Knowledge and Skills
- Superior written and oral communications skills.
- Strong storytelling/writing/digital media ability, able to, identify and adapt powerful stories and data from a wide range of sources that effectively communicate organizational impact with different audiences.
- Adept at asset design and layout to position organizational impact using stories and data in a visually appealing way.
- International development communications experience a strong asset.
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Ability to travel locally, nationally and internationally (as travel advisories allow).
- Working knowledge of adapting stories and data for different social media platforms a strong asset.
- Bilingual in French or Spanish (oral and written) considered an asset.

Type: Hybrid
Our Hybrid Workplace Program is a flexible work arrangement that permits employees to work remotely while also occasionally being required to come into the Organization’s office. If approved to work from home as part of our Hybrid workplace program; the incumbent must be available to work from the Organization’s office from time to time as determined by the supervisor or as otherwise directed by the Organization.
Compensation: Between $71,500 - $75,000 annually based on experience.
