THE OPPORTUNITY: Education Coordinator, Safe and Caring Schools

Reporting to the Associate Superintendent, the Education Coordinator plays a vital role in addressing matters that extend beyond the scope of individual schools and require District-level involvement. This includes managing complex parent concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, and coordinating referrals to appropriate District staff or, when appropriate , redirecting matters back to school-based leadership. The Education Coordinator provides direct guidance and support to Principals and Vice Principals, offering clarity on policy and sharing best practices for navigating challenging situations. In addition, the position supports the work of the Directors of Instruction and Associate Superintendents through strategic coordination and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Parental and Public Communications

  • Mediate conflicts between parents and school administrators, respond to complex public inquiries, and support case conferences requiring school-based context.


Administrator, Director of Instruction and Senior Team Support

  • Provide guidance to school administrators on complex issues, assist with sensitive communications, and support Directors of Instruction with reports, letters, and coordination of school submissions (e.g., fees, calendars).


Field Studies and Compliance Management

  • Review and ensure compliance for overnight, high-risk, and international field studies; maintain digital records and support updates to the Field Studies App.


School Planning and Policy Support

  • Assist with school learning plans, Code of Conduct reviews, Safe and Caring Schools checklists, and school fee processes.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a university degree in Education or Public Administration
  • Candidates that are educators must possess a valid teaching certificate, and Teachers’ Regulation Branch (TRB) certification
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ related experience


Compensation

The compensation package will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The salary range for the position is $ 92,727 to $ 109,090 plus a comprehensive benefits package, including, Municipal Pension Plan, Vancouver Employee Savings Plan (additional 2% of base salary), Extended Health, Dental, Group Life, Long Term Disability, 20 Paid Sick days accrued each calendar year, 20 paid vacation days each calendar year (25 after 6 years of service), potential up to 4 days paid Gratuity, and five bonus supplemental paid vacation days after 11 years of employment every five years.
