Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, helping design and build backend systems that power customer-facing applications. You’ll work in a Kanban environment with a strong focus on clean architecture, observability, and high-performance systems.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services primarily in Node.js, with some Python for data processing tasks
• Design and implement event-driven architectures with a focus on observability (DataDog)
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support daily deploys with minimal risk (Blue-Green deployments, etc.)
• Contribute to infrastructure work using Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform on GCP
• Optimize MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis databases for performance and reliability
• Collaborate closely with remote and in-office teammates
• Clearly communicate technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, MySQL, and event-driven backend design
• Experience deploying to cloud environments, especially GCP, using Kubernetes and Terraform
• Comfortable working with MongoDB and Redis in production
• Solid grasp of modern CI/CD practices and observability tools
• Clear, concise communicator with great problem-solving skills
• (Bonus) Some exposure to front-end work—especially React—is a nice plus
