Please include a cover letter with your resume (in one file) describing how you would be a great fit at Photonic and what attributes you could bring to our growing team.
The Director, Integrated Photonics is a multidisciplinary technical role focused on the development of an application-specific process design kit (PDK) for Photonic’s silicon quantum processors. The PDK will include a wide variety of integrated classical and quantum photonic parts, electrical and photonic IOs, electronic functionality, and packaging. The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to drive innovation to create solutions in these key areas: nanofabrication, device modeling and design, process development, device packaging, and integration of devices within our systems.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
- Lead the cross-disciplinary team responsible for the development of Photonic’s process design kit (PDK)
- Build capabilities in the key technology components of quantum silicon micro devices: materials development, photonic modeling, nanofabrication, device design, mixed signal design, back-end of line packaging, device assembly and test, and process development and characterization
- Recommend and develop new device technologies that drive the innovation cycle and product roadmap
- Accelerate the growth of a high-performing engineering team that is strong both in technology innovation as well as in best practice engineering
- Manage teams and projects through the product development process from concept to transfer
- Support technical evaluation of design requirements /constraints and guide teams in developing concepts, evaluating risks, and making effective and timely design decisions
- Manage resource allocation effectively across multiple projects
- Identify and manage partner/supplier relationships for design, manufacture, and fabrication services
- Ensure the cross-compatibility between parts and processes throughout the design process
- Manage teams through design and process parameter optimization to achieve robust, reliable product function with high yield
- Plan, design, develop and deliver innovative process specifications for the realization of micro- and nano-structured devices
- Fabricate micro/nano-structured devices and technologies to a high standard and assess their quality
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
- PhD. or MS. in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field with minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
- Deep experience in research, engineering, and product development environments
- Experience with fabrication development, detectors, cryogenics, photonic switching and circuits, electrical IO, and optical IO
- Experience leading project teams of skilled technical staff – engineers, scientists, physicists, fabrication technicians, etc. – across multiple sites
- Proven working knowledge and hands-on experience in a range of other micro/nano-fabrication techniques, including but not limited to photolithography, resist processing, wet and dry etching, physical and chemical vapour deposition, electroforming, bonding, and micromachining
- Demonstrated ability to creatively solve engineering problems
- Outstanding teamwork skills
WHY YOU SHOULD WORK WITH US
- Get involved with a quantum startup company set to redefine computing
