People & Culture Generalist
Full Time Contract position with benefits until April 30, 2027.
The People & Culture Generalist provides day-to-day HR support and plays a key role in supporting the overall employee experience by managing a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, health and safety, performance management, training and development, and compliance with employment laws and company policies. They act as a central point of contact for employees, providing guidance on HR practices and helping to foster a positive, productive, and inclusive workplace culture. The People & Culture Generalist will have the opportunity to work cross functionally supporting a variety of People & Culture and CFO activities and initiatives.

Communitech is based in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. We work in-office five days a week because great things happen when we're together — creating space for deeper collaboration and stronger relationships with each other and the ecosystem we support.
What you’ll be doing:
People & Culture Administration (~90%)
- Support the day-to-day operations and administration of HR requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Support the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal standards.
- Oversee benefits administration and total rewards initiatives.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training and employee development initiatives.
- Support the reporting on HR metrics to ensure data-driven decision-making.
- Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of HR practices.
- Manage contractor renewal processes, including tracking end dates, sending reminders, and administering contract updates.
- Maintain and update internal HR systems such as Citation Canada, ADP, and Organimi, ensuring data accuracy and functionality.
- Serve as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, contributing to health and safety initiatives, training coordination, and compliance tracking.
- Provide support on special projects and strategic initiatives.
- Lead and represent the People & Culture team on cross-functional committees to support social and wellness initiatives.
- Assist with planning and executing internal events, including All Hands meetings, Communitech 101s, and social/wellness activities.
Executive Assistant to the CFO (~10%)
- Manage calendar, schedule meetings, book travel, submit expenses and coordinate logistics to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
- Provide executive-level support for Board of Directors meetings and events, including scheduling and managing meeting logistics.
- Monitor and maintain the agreements inbox, ensuring timely responses and accurate document tracking.
- Support the CFO with special projects, research, and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CHRP designation (or working towards it) is an asset.
- Proven experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a generalist capacity.
- Solid understanding of Human Resources best practices, employment laws and legislation, including ESA, OHSA, human rights, and privacy regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Agility, with the ability to multi-task and respond comfortably to new or shifting priorities and goals.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with a passion for fostering positive workplace culture and employee engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative HR team.
- This is an on-site position (Monday through Friday). Local candidates will be given preference.
