Description

Located out of the Inter Pipeline Calgary corporate office, the Project Engineer will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the development and execution of new and exciting Inter Pipeline Ltd. (IPL) projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the execution of small and less complicated projects. Occasionally, the Project Engineer will support group Project Managers in the execution of large projects.

Key Activities And Responsibilities


  • Complete high level cost estimating, project development, project reporting and construction efforts of operations and small projects within IPL’s Transportation business unit
  • Preparation of project stage gate packages for IPL management
  • Oversee the development and manage adherence to the project Design Basis Memorandum
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and project participants including all IPL stakeholders
  • Coordinate the review of designs, drawings, and specifications with internal and external parties
  • Coordination, development, and review of construction contracts originating with engineering consultants
  • Participate in design reviews and hazard assessments to ensure the design addresses all safety, environmental, regulatory, asset integrity and operational requirements
  • Coordinate engineering work performed by internal and third-party resources
  • Monitor and report on the progress of the project
  • Reviewing engineering deliverables and coordination of internal squad checking
  • Create and update project schedules and forecasts throughout the project life cycle
  • Assist in the development of key project documents including design bases and execution plans
  • Supporting the commissioning and hand-over of projects from Project Development to Field Operations
  • Ensure all projects are completed safely with minimal environmental impact, within all rules, regulations, and industry best practices


Education, Skills And Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Currently registered with APEGA as a P.Eng.
  • 4-7 years relevant experience
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop key relationships with ease
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management, organizational skills, and attention to details
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively both independently and in team settings
  • Firm understanding of and ability to apply engineering principles
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Full time, Monday-Friday
