Job Description

McCann Worldgroup Canada is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in our downtown Toronto Head Office. This is a 6-month contract opportunity. The role reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Human Resources Business Partner and supports our 3 office locations (Toronto, Montreal and Calgary). This role will be accountable to support and deliver HR services and programs in alignment with Agency objectives. The incumbent will excel in a fast-paced environment dealing with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. The HR Generalist supports our Agency’s people-focused culture and assists in the cultivation of a diverse and inclusive work place.

What You Will Do…

  • Policies and Procedures Administration – ensuring company HR protocols are upheld, providing guidance to employees and managers on interpretation and implementation
  • New Employee Immersion Program – manage and deliver program for all new hires (pre-hire, day one and check-ins)
  • Learning and Development – coordinate, organize and track training initiatives. Participate in yearly planning of training
  • HR Administration – manage temporary/freelance hires, staffing agency, internships including contract preparation and extensions, job description development, preparation of related HR materials
  • Offboarding – Managing administration of terminations, resignations and exit interviews
  • Time & Attendance – answering enquires, reporting and resolving discrepancies (Workday/Fiori)
  • Employee Relations – junior level relations escalating to HR Leadership when required
  • Leaves Management – Maternity/Parental Leaves, STD and Unpaid Leaves
  • Performance Coaching – supporting the annual review cycle, feedback and check-ins
  • HR Metrics – Exit Tool, New Hire Tool, Comp Reports and Ad Hoc Reports (PeopleSoft)
  • Health and Safety – actively participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Ask HR Sharepoint Site – responsible for updating and maintaining all HR information
  • Provide coverage for the HR Coordinator when on holiday
  • Other projects, initiatives and duties as assigned

Who You Will Be…

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar Human Resources role
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent work experience
  • Strong customer service focus, with a high level of responsiveness
  • Approachable with a genuine desire to proactively assist others
  • Supportive team player with a drive to create a positive work environment
  • Applies solid judgment ensuring integrity, compliance, & confidentiality
  • Enjoys transactional work with ability to self-manage high volume workload
  • Passion for continuous process improvement and simplification of routine deliverables
  • Strong analytical and proactive problem solving skills with proven ability to organize and analyze data
  • Accountable and takes initiative to meet performance expectations for the role
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven abilities working with different HR Technologies and report generation
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Track record of prioritizing multiple competing demands
  • Well-honed presentation skills – delivery of HR Programs
  • Willingness to have and express a point of view
  • Understanding of complex-matrixed organizations
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • HRPA membership is an asset
  • HR designation or working towards designation is an asset
