About The Role
On-site | Casual
The Shipper/Driver is responsible for sending sampling supplies to clients, as well as receiving laboratory supplies from vendors and clients, respectively. This position will be working in a laboratory environment, with an emphasis on providing quality and efficient customer service to internal and external clients. The Shipper/Driver must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting strict deadlines.

About The Role

The Shipper/Driver is responsible for sending sampling supplies to clients, as well as receiving laboratory supplies from vendors and clients, respectively. The Shipper/Driver must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, pack, and ship sample bottle orders and preservatives to clients using appropriate couriers and procedures to ensure items are safely delivered and free of contamination;
- Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents;
- Deliver late shipments to couriers and others as required;
- Complete required shipping paperwork and communication with couriers;
- Provide customer service to clients and couriers;
- Drive to pick up samples and deliver as needed throughout the day in the Greater Vancouver area;
- Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle and perform daily operational checks;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned
- Good English communication skills (auditory, verbal, writing, and reading);
- Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confident with computers;
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent organization skills, with proven ability to meet strict deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
- Customer service experience is an asset;
- Previous Forklift licence/experience is an asset;
- Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic lab safety is an asset;
- Current and valid provincial Class 5 driver’s licence with clean driving history (abstract required);
- Valid unrestricted license for personal vehicle use applicable in the province/territory.
- No major driving violations and no more than two minor violations/incidents.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
- Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift;
- Ability to use lift assist equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks;
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
- Ability to stand for a full shift;
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
- You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.

- An estimated hourly pay of $22.67 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
