Your Role

As our Construction Estimator, you'll work closely with our owner and project team to ensure every project starts with accuracy and clarity. You'll handle full-cycle estimating and purchasing processes using JobTread software, from issuing bid requests to vetting trade proposals and setting project budgets.

This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and familiarity with Alberta's construction practices and pricing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, and material/labour takeoffs for new builds.
  • Review plans and specifications to ensure accurate project costing.
  • Manage trade bidding, issue purchase orders, and vet subcontractor quotes.
  • Maintain up-to-date cost data for local materials, labor, and services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors, suppliers, and trade partners to ensure competitive pricing and reliable service.
  • Proactively network within the Alberta construction industry to identify and qualify new trade partners and suppliers.
  • Work closely with the project management team to align budget and build strategies.
  • Track budget changes and maintain project financials throughout preconstruction.
  • Assist the owner with ongoing improvements to estimating systems and processes.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in residential or multifamily estimating within Alberta or Western Canada.
  • Solid knowledge of local construction methods, codes, and pricing trends.
  • Experience with estimating software; JobTread experience is a bonus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of results.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Alberta-based candidates or those with direct regional construction experience will be prioritized.
