Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The Laundry Worker at Sunset Lodge collects, sorts, washes, dries, labels, folds, and delivers linens, personal clothing, and other facility items (e.g., slings & drapes) in accordance with the established policies and procedures.

The target hiring range for this position is $24.34 to $24.34 with a maximum of $24.34.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The Laundry Worker at Sunset Lodge collects, sorts, washes, dries, labels, folds, and delivers linens, personal clothing, and other facility items (e.g., slings & drapes) in accordance with the established policies and procedures.
Characteristic Job Duties
The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:
- Receives laundry and sorts according to type, condition, and weight load per wash. Follows specific instructions for treatment of soiled linens, using methods, chemicals, and protective equipment. Separates loads according to classification.
- Washes and dries laundry following instructions for machine operations, designated washing, and drying times, etc.
- Sorts personal clothing or puts aside for repairs or labelling. Folds laundry as required, sorts, and delivers to appropriate floors and resident rooms.
- Observes operation of machines and reports malfunctioning to Facility Service Manager. Assists in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies. Cleans machines as required, cleans, and tidies floors and laundry area.
- Adheres to established department policies, procedures and objectives regarding quality management, safety, environment, and infection control.
- Keeps records and completes incident reports as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
The successful job applicant will have completed High School.

Special Licenses, Diplomas, Certifications Or Requirements
The successful applicant will hold/have:
- WHMIS
- Understanding procedures and ability to follow established infection control protocols
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Previous experience in the Healthcare environment or Long-Term Care setting, Housekeeping preferred.
- Able to read, write and speak the English language.
- Able to communicate with Managers, other employees, and residents.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Considerable amount of standing and walking short distances, wide range of body movements involved in bending, rotating, and reaching frequently.
- Ability to carry, push/pull and or lift materials weighing upwards of 20 lbs.
- Enclosed environment where area may be noisy, hot, and humid.

- Falling on wet/slippery floors
