About Us
Let's Talk Science is a national charitable organization with a mandate to improve Science literacy through leadership, innovative educational programs, research and advocacy. Our flagship science outreach program is the Partnership Program- is the only national graduate student-driven science outreach program in the world. The program currently operates at 41 university and college campuses coast to coast and is administered locally mainly by graduate student coordinators. Last year, over 220,000 youth were reached by over 2,000 volunteers in 474 communities.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in volunteer recruitment and the creation of virutal recruitment platforms.
2. Assist in volunteer training with the coordinator team. Addidtionally, initate training sessions to help volunteers with community events.
3. Connect volunteers for carpooling and collaborative purposes in preperation for community events.
4. Assist in the brainstorming, creation, and execution of virtual LTS outreach initatives.
5. Mantain good relations with current community event partners.
6. Connect with new community partners to further expand LTS community integration, Actively search out community events where Let's Talk Science is involved.
7. Ensure volunteers fill out activity logs in LTS portat for every event with which they are involved.
8. Encourage volunteers to invbent/initiate their own LTS community event, and support them in the planning and execution of thes events.
9. Mediate the professional relationship between communty partners and volunteers.
10. Attend all Let's Talk Science major events (ie. social, volunteer appreciation events, leadership initatives, etc)
11. Attend 1 office hour bi-weekly
12. Attend monthly coordinator meetings
13. Assist with Let's Talk Science communication with the National Office, Western University, and all Let's Talk Science supporters (ie. writing annual reports)
14. Assist other coordinators where applicable
Qualifications:
Community College or University level courses
Excellent leadership, professionalism, and management skills
Ability to work independtly and well on a team
Interest in science education
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organization skills
Enrhusiam and reliability
A graduate student or entering graduate school at Western University
Previous Science outreach experience an asset
