We’re hiring a floor-focused, KPI-driven leader to take charge of production at a busy and highly automated food manufacturing plant. This is a role for someone who leads by example—not by memo. You’ll be a visible force on the floor, empowering supervisors, troubleshooting issues, and driving performance across six lines and a team of 60+ people per shift.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Mentor and support a team of production supervisors to ensure daily performance targets are met.
- Maintain a strong and visible floor presence—addressing production issues, staffing, materials, and changeovers in real time.
- Track line speeds, scrap, throughput, and downtime; lead weekly KPI reviews with senior leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to troubleshoot and resolve plant delays.
- Apply lean tools like 5S and kaizen to reduce waste, improve changeovers, and drive efficiency.
- Oversee and support sanitation cycles and compliance for a six-day production schedule.
- Handle shift-level labor planning and performance management with clarity, speed, and fairness.
- Escalate critical issues appropriately while building independence and confidence among your team.
- Attend daily huddles and weekly reporting calls with site and executive leadership teams.
- Champion food safety and ensure adherence to GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in food manufacturing with 2+ years in a people leadership role.
- Experience overseeing multiple production lines in a fast-paced plant environment.
- Diploma or degree in Food Science, Operations, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, 5S, HACCP, GMP, and CFIA protocols.
- Confident managing KPIs, reporting metrics, and presenting to senior leaders.
- Excellent problem solver who collaborates well with Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain.
- Hands-on leadership style—present, approachable, and calm under pressure.
- Capable communicator and coach who builds trust and accountability on the floor.
- Adaptable and comfortable managing six-day production and sanitation cycles.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with modern food production technologies or packaging lines.
- Certifications in Lean, Kaizen, or Production/Operations Management.
- Exposure to budget oversight or labor planning at the plant level.
Compensation
Base salary of $90,000–$115,000, plus a comprehensive benefits program and paid vacation.
