Job Description
RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Department / Research Program: Cardiovascular Health across the Lifespan (CHAL)
Under the direction of Dr. Stella Daskalopoulou, the person participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Medical laboratory technicians conduct routine medical laboratory tests and set up, clean and maintain medical laboratory equipment. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology. Prepares materials and equipment. Demonstrates techniques.

General Duties
- Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, histology, toxicology, microbiology, immunology and molecular biology,
- Prepares and sets up materials and equipment. Performs a variety of assays, analyses and tests such as tissue culture, molecular techniques, radiochemical assays, electrophoresis, chromatography and histological procedures. Participates in small animal handling and minor surgery,
- Records results, performs calculations and compiles data. Maintains records and files,
- Demonstrates the operation of apparatus or techniques,
- Maintains equipment and performs minor repairs. Arranges for servicing,
- Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area,
- Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.
