The Prep Cook/Server is a vital member of our Food Services team, responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with meal preparation, and serving meals in a safe, sanitary, and courteous manner. This role ensures the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer service to meet the needs of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Prep Cook Duties:
- Prepare ingredients (washing, peeling, cutting vegetables, portioning food, etc.) for meals under the direction of the Cook/Chef.
- Assist with basic food preparation and cooking as needed.
- Ensure all food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety standards.
- Keep prep areas clean, organized, and stocked.
- Label and date all stored food items and maintain proper inventory rotation.
- Report any equipment issues or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
Server Duties:
- Serve meals and beverages to residents in a respectful, friendly, and efficient
- Clean and reset tables between meal services.
- Wash dishes and sanitize kitchen and dining equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (Food Safe Certificate preferred).
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful toward seniors and other residents.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs and carry trays or food items safely.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Working Conditions
- Work shifts may include weekends and holidays.
- Must follow all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate uniform and non-slip footwear.
