The Role

Our client is a growing and reputable food establishment based in Delta, BC, and on their behalf, we are looking for a Logistics Specialist to manage shipments across North America. This is a full-time, permanent, morning shift between Monday and Saturday.

This opportunity offers 45-50 hours per week, requiring the flexibility to accommodate on-call hours should any issues were to arise with BOLs, as well as weekend work. This role allows the flexibility to start as early as 5:30 AM or as late as 10:30 AM on some days, as long as full-time hours are covered.

This is a hybrid vacancy requiring 2 days to work from home, and 3 days at the Delta facility, after the training period has been completed in 3-5 months.

The right candidate will have the ability to travel to the US, as once a year, there may be a trip scheduled to California. The facility is not transit accessible; therefore, a vehicle is required to get there. Spanish and English bilingualism is a strong asset; preference will be given to those bilingual candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate cross-border produce shipments across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Prepare and manage shipping documents such as bills of lading, customs paperwork, and invoices.
  • Work with carriers and 3PLs to secure reliable and affordable transport, including rate negotiation.
  • Track freight costs and suggest ways to reduce expenses and improve logistics operations.
  • Monitor shipments, resolve delays, and ensure smooth transit.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, sales, warehouse) to plan and forecast shipments.
  • Schedule and coordinate deliveries to customers.
  • Handle customs processes, including FDA/COS tracking and release documentation.
  • Enforce carrier compliance with shipping/receiving protocols and regulations (USDA, CFIA, FMCSA).
  • Respond to inquiries about delivery status from customers and sales.
  • Ensure accuracy of shipments, report shortages, and notify relevant departments.
  • Review and process carrier invoices, addressing any billing discrepancies.
  • Manage cargo claims and report rejections or issues to sales and accounting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation, preferably managing food products.
  • Previous Transportation Management System experience.
  • Bilingualism in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Analytical skills and extreme attention to detail.
  • Time management and priority management skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Self-starter requiring limited supervision and a desire to work in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Reliable transportation and a Driver’s license.
  • Ability to deal with last-minute changes and work in a fast-paced work environment.

Compensation

  • $70,000 to $90,000
