About the role

As an Auto Claims Re-inspection Appraiser, you will be responsible for reviewing and enforcing the Intact standard level of repair during its repair cycle to ensure that repairs align with the approved appraisal, corporate policies, guidelines, and standards.

Your Job

The role will see the successful candidate travel within the Ottawa Region, as far West as Trenton and as far East to the Quebec boarder as well as auto repair shops within the province of Ontario. The successful candidate will be provided with an Intact fleet vehicle, company cell phone and laptop for the role.

  • Meet with insureds upon request to address escalations to improve customer service levels as required
  • Inspect insured’s vehicle repairs and damage against the appraisal audit process
  • Repairs are completed in line with Intact Ontario Appraisal Unit (‘OAU’) guidelines
  • Photos of damage to the vehicle received from Collision Reporting Centres (CRC), repair facility, and/or insured
  • Estimate received from the auto repair facility
  • Parts replaced or repaired per approved estimate
  • Labour hours are consistent with work required to repair the vehicle to pre loss condition
  • Quality of repairs are in line with Intact Standards
  • Frequent travel to repair facilities to confirm damages approved and repaired align with loss details
  • Ability to prepare auto repair estimates using Audatex Estimating Software. Obtain repair-cost agreements or quotations on replacement parts, labor rates, etc., from vendors.
  • Meet with repair facility representative(s) to review re-inspection results
  • Document and report findings, making changes to the repair estimate as required
  • Conduct further re-inspections as necessary to ensure satisfactory completion of repairs in accordance with OAU guidelines
  • Maintain effective communication with claims representative, manager and repair facility
  • Provide coaching and technical support to colleagues and repair facilities
  • Establish and maintain productive business relationships and liaise with service providers, claims department and repair facility representatives
  • Assist in the screening and review of vendors' performance to meet professional and corporate standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance products as well as appraisal and investigation techniques and services
  • Identify needs for process improvement and recommend changes to policies or procedures to maintain quality service and competitiveness
  • Determine and/or establish key measures to monitor personal efforts and service levels

Your Skills

  • Very strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiating skills.
  • Open-minded to consider all aspects to resolve conflicts and or escalations within OAU guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Be objective and have the ability to investigate and complete a detailed outcome prior to decision making.

Education (Minimum)

  • Grade 12 High School Diploma (Mandatory)

Work Related Experience

  • 4 – 5 years customer service experience (dealer or collision center)
  • 7 - 10 years collision repair and/or collision estimating experience (Audatex preferred)
  • Additional technical certificates, example I-Car, or manufactures training, Auto Body license is considered an asset
