Plan, implement and supervise music therapy programs.
As a member of the multidisciplinary team assesses needs of referred resident.
Observe and documents behaviour and relays information to other team members through verbal or written reports.
Take part in multidisciplinary case conferences.
Liaise with other multidisciplinary staff (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Recreation Therapy) to facilitate quality resident care.
Participate in Quality Assurance activities by evaluating and auditing music therapy programs.
Participate in in-service programs as required.
Develop an appropriate selection of music and program material to encourage resident participation.
Select, order, and maintain music therapy materials under the direction of the department manager.
Orient and supervise interns, students, and volunteers to the program.
Maintain and develop a knowledge of the music therapy field.
Keep records of assessments and progress of patients.
Respond to enquiries from staff, external agencies and the community in relation to music therapy.
Participate in committees of the organization as required.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
Bachelor of Music Therapy & Post-graduate Internship (1000 hours of clinical, specialized training).
Accreditation with the Canadian Association of Music Therapy, M.T.A. (Music Therapist Accredited) Designation.
