Position Summary


Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Programs, Quality & Chief Nursing Executive, the Director, Critical Care, Rehab and Stroke has operational accountability for the provision of high-quality patient care within the Critical Care, Rehab, Stroke and Allied Health programs. Working in close collaboration with physician leads and other members of the leadership team, the Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to ensure the delivery of efficient, safe, and high-quality healthcare to patients.   


The Director provides visionary leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of professionals within the program fostering an environment of learning and growth and plays a key role as an influential expert liaising with clinical leaders across the organization. The director will establish the operational framework and infrastructure for program planning, implementation and evaluation to ensure the safe and effective delivery of high-quality care. Other key responsibilities include financial stewardship and accountability for the program budget preparation and monitoring, and actively contributing to a variety of internal, external and regional committees and taskforces. This role requires a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to build and foster strong and collaborative relationships. An ability to “think outside the box” and facilitate creative thinking and innovative problem solving is an asset. This Director is a systems thinker who looks beyond the issues of today and considers the broader landscape of healthcare over time and across sectors. 


Qualifications:


  • Regulated healthcare professional in good standing, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Master’s Degree in a health care or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressive leadership roles in an acute healthcare and unionized environment
  • Exceptional Leadership competencies with strong interpersonal skills, administrative capabilities and proactive skills in team building, problem solving and decision making
  • Strong acumen for understanding data and how it can be used to support program/service planning and evaluation
  • Knowledge of strategic and operational planning, management principles and research-based practices
  • Proven experience of building constructive and effective relationships and gaining credibility across disciplines, divisions, departments and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and implement complex clinical programs involving multiple stakeholders, departments and sites
  • Results-oriented with excellent management skills pertaining to financials, human resources, operations, project and planning, transformational change, and risk management
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to work under pressure/meet deadlines
  • Exceptional facilitation skills, with demonstrated experience in bringing diverse people/teams together to work on complex issues
  • Overall commitment to the quality of patient care and optimal patient experience
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders including regional healthcare partners
  • Strong presentations and report writing skills
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication and customer service skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
  • Available for regular assignment of Hospital Administrator on-call responsibilities (assigned on a rotating basis to cover evenings and weekends)
  • Valid (class G) driver’s license, Ability to travel, reliable and insurable vehicle
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
