Our Enforcement Services Department is looking for a dedicated Supervisor Sergeant to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
This supervisory position plays a vital role in ensuring public safety, upholding community standards, and fostering positive relationships with staff, residents, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director of Enforcement Services.
As a Sergeant, you will serve in a leadership capacity, responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the unit. You will be responsible for leading a team of Peace Officers and/or Bylaw Officers. This leadership role encompasses a range of duties, including operational planning, employee training and evaluation, performance management, scheduling, community engagement, and project management.
Initially, this position will be tasked with coordinating and developing provincially certified Peace Officer Induction Training for the department.
Qualifications
The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting salary $50.31 - $65.03 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.

Qualifications
- Possess a Diploma in Law Enforcement
- Minimum of five years of experience in law enforcement, demonstrating a strong ability to investigate provincial and bylaw related complaints.
- Previous supervisory experience within a law enforcement agency is preferred.
- A valid Community Peace Officer (Level 1) Appointment, a City of Grande Prairie Bylaw Officer Appointment, and be able to successfully complete the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) are required.
- A combination of equivalent education and experience may also be considered.
- Specialized training in areas such as Emergency Vehicle Operation, Collision Investigation Level II, Radar/Laser, Commercial Vehicle Inspections, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Weights and Dimensions is considered an asset.
