Under limited supervision, the payroll specialist plays a critical role in delivering an accurate and efficient payroll process that complies with applicable regulations. This includes a wide variety of payroll processing, record keeping, reconciliation and compliance & analysis activities. Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll, assists in the support and maintenance of the payroll system, and provides payroll expertise as a project team member on departmental and cross-functional initiatives.
Principle Duties
$68,200.00 - $85,250.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. Under limited supervision, the payroll specialist plays a critical role in delivering an accurate and efficient payroll process that complies with applicable regulations. Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll, assists in the support and maintenance of the payroll system, and provides payroll expertise as a project team member on departmental and cross-functional initiatives.
Principle Duties
- Imports data integrations between Workday and payroll system. Reviews and imports time data. Verifies accuracy and resulting pay implications of data imported.
- Enters direct deposit changes.
- Calculates and enters long term incentive compensation (stock payroll data), benefits data, and other items received from other departments.
- Verifies new hires, terminations, and any additional information imported into the payroll system. Accurately processes the first/final paycheck for new hires/terminations.
- Assists in entering top up payments related to employees on leave of absence.
- Processes bonus, tuition reimbursements, industry awards, and any other one-time payments agreed to by the company.
- Acting as first point of contact for all employees on payroll related queries.
- Prepares and distributes payroll reports and funding requests.
- Provides assistance on special projects, audits, year-end processes, and other items as assigned by leadership.
- Understands and can implement required payroll laws within Canada and Mexico.
- Assists in advancing the payroll processes and procedures to align with the Global Payroll Policy.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- 5 years of relevant experience in this field
- Experience with payroll systems (Desjardins preferred) and Workday HCM
- Knowledge of applicable regulations in Canada and Mexico
- Bilingual English and French preferred
