About The Role

Our growing team is looking for a Scrum Master/Project Manager!

What You'll Do Here

Planning and Organization:

  • Support the Product Owner in prioritizing tasks as needed.
  • Assist the Product Owner in creating and maintaining a healthy product backlog.
  • Support and assist the squad in problem-solving.
  • Organize and facilitate the necessary meetings (retro, scrum, demo, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner, Project Manager, and development teams to define sprint content and delivery priorities.
  • Provide feedback on resources to the direct supervisor and Project Manager.
  • Identify team's training and expertise needs.

Governance And Promotion Of Best Practices

  • Ensure compliance with standards and methods of Intact Financial Corporation at all times.
  • Conduct monitoring and improvements of practices.
  • Act as an Agile Coach for the squad.
  • Collaborate with the squad to establish an effective and appropriate working mode.
  • Adequately support squads on agile best practices to maximize their efficiency and achieve their goals.
  • Be an expert in agile methodologies and practices.

Facilitation Of Ceremonies

  • Master communication techniques and know how to use them contextually (validation, reformulation, feedback, visualization) both in face-to-face and virtual meetings.
  • Help the team remove obstacles.
  • Effectively lead meetings and presentations, even in difficult situations.
  • Use strategies to overcome deadlocks and work in uncertainty contexts.
  • Ensure proactive and effective communication at all levels.
  • Ensure team mobilization.
  • Facilitate various agile ceremonies.
  • Negotiate with the Product Owner the right mix of technical stories versus business stories.
  • Act as a servant leader for the squad and facilitate planning, retrospectives, and process adaptation to ensure quality of squads/solutions.
  • Protect the team from external disturbances and ensure it focuses on sprint goals/commitments.

Continuous Improvement Plan

  • Guide the team in improving its effectiveness and autonomy to create a high-performance environment.
  • Work to establish a culture of continuous improvement within the squad to strengthen collaboration, engagement, performance, and communication.
  • Guide the team towards self-organization.

Delivery Management / "Providing Visibility":

  • Prepare and follow deployment planning across all environments.
  • Ensure daily activity tracking and reporting, including squad velocity and sprint/delivery progress.
  • Coordinate dependencies with Scrum Masters of other squads within the same tribe.
  • Identify and confirm necessary stakeholders for various deployments.
  • Manage bug planning with the Product Owner and Project Manager
  • Ensure support during deployments in environments.
  • Demonstrate leadership in emergency situations.
  • Participate in and/or organize the necessary meetings (CAB, PM IT, scrum, retrospectives, demo, etc.).
  • Make the status of work, team velocity, and sprint/delivery progress visible.
  • Plan and execute all project aspects within scope, time, budget, and quality limits, in accordance with the Agile framework established for the team or department.
  • Ensure the team understands and respects their DOR (Definition Of Ready) and DOD(Definition of Done).

Project Management

  • Effectively manage project delivery with the direction.
  • Support the direction in creating dashboards, key performance indicators (KPI), and reports.
  • Lead certain transformation initiatives.
  • Manage issues, dependencies, and obstacles in projects.
  • Master continuous improvement and processes.

What You Bring To The Table

  • 5 to 8 years of experience as a dedicated Scrum Master or equivalent experience in Agile product development.
  • Recognized Scrum Master certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Strong skills and knowledge in facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and transparency.
  • Knowledge of Atlassian tools suite, such as Jira and Confluence, Clarity PPM, an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Initiative minded.
  • Technological curiosity.
  • Team collaboration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
