The Process Electrician at the Integrated Processing & Transfer Facility (IPTF) ensures the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems through installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and isolation of hazards. A strong understanding of industrial electrical systems is crucial for optimizing waste processing and recycling. This role will also involve proactively contributing to energy efficiency and sustainability projects.

Up to 1 temporary full- time position for up to 11 months
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary: $47.415 - $49.336 (Hourly)
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and IBEW and will be forthcoming shortly

What will you do?
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment used in the waste management process
- Install new electrical equipment and systems in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices
- Maintain existing electrical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical problems, equipment and systems in a timely and efficient manner
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities
- Respond to electrical emergencies in a timely and professional manner
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components and systems
- Test and verify the proper operation of electrical equipment and systems after repairs are completed
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations
- Regular inspections of electrical equipment and systems to identify potential safety hazards
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel
- Work closely with other maintenance staff, engineers, and plant operators to support the overall operation of the facility
- Provide technical support to plant operators and other staff
- Train other staff on the safe use of electrical equipment
- Completion of Grade 12, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Certified Alberta Journeyperson in the trade of Electrician
- Experience as a Journeyperson Electrician
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training and Permit issuer training
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant safety regulations
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work safely and efficiently

- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position
- Applicants may be tested
- The role requires working night shifts
- Applicants must have access to reliable transportation to commute to and from the workplace as there is no public transportation to this location
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform assigned duties in all weather conditions
