CMG is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. This is a full-time permanent position.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Finance team, under the direction of a Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for financial reporting, corporate accounting, internal controls and special projects.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as part of the Finance team, under the direction of a Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for financial reporting, corporate accounting, internal controls and special projects.
- Preparation of the quarterly and year‐end financial statements, management’s discussion and analysis, board-level financial packages and other reports as required;
- Preparation of financial reporting for foreign operations;
- Participation in month-end close process, including analyzing financial results and variances;
- Assistance with monthly consolidation and reconciliations including review of working papers;
- Assistance with monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting package;
- Preparation and review of consolidated financial statements for global entities;
- Valuation of equity‐based compensation and reporting of equity activity to regulatory bodies;
- Participation in M&A activities, including but not limited to due diligence, assessing accounting and disclosure impacts, and accounting for business combinations;
- Research of new accounting pronouncements and best practice disclosure;
- Provide advice and guidance on accounting matters including IFRS standard updates and complex accounting issues and preparation of technical accounting memos;
- Coordination of audit working papers and supporting documentation and liaise with external auditors, including statutory audits in international jurisdictions;
- Implement and maintain documentation on design and implementation of internal controls including annual testing of controls;
- Assist in establishing and monitoring compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures;
- Assist in the automation and optimization of accounting and reporting processes;
- Cross‐training with other accounting positions to ensure adequate coverage;
- Work on special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
- Canadian CPA Qualified
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional customer service skills and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced, high-growth global environment.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively on complex projects.
- Experience with multi-currency and multi-entity accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Team focused with a positive attitude, must be self-motivated, and have very good time management and communication skills both in written and verbal English.
- 5 to 10 years experience in accounting or financial reporting required
- Hold a CPA designation with 3+ years of experience in public practice
