NextStar Energy (NSE) is a joint venture between LG Energy Solution and Stellantis. NextStar Energy will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begin production at the site on over 200-acres of land on Twin Oaks Drive near Banwell Road.

The manufacturing facility is targeted to have an annual production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.


As a Utility Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate the upkeep of physical structures, ensuring that buildings, equipment, and systems are well-maintained and operational. You will manage maintenance staff, schedule repairs, and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the efficient functioning of facilities.


Responsibilities include:

  • Operation and maintenance of all facilities and process equipment including but not limited to: fire protection systems (sprinklers, pumps, storage tanks), mechanical equipment (chillers, air compressors, hot water boilers, hot oil boilers), HVAC equipment (BCU, FCU, DHU, AHU, RTU), process equipment (solvent recovery process, central electrolyte storage system, dust collectors, fume collector, scrap collector, activated carbon towers) and electrical equipment & power distribution from 30kV to 208V
  • Areas of responsibility include all facility-related equipment in the production building, assembly building and utility support buildings
  • Maintain good morale and a positive working environment
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment and ensure all reports are working to high standard
  • Drive a “right first time” culture for job quality and maintain housekeeping standard
  • Plan and prioritize work orders, scheduling, overall repairs, and maintenance to minimize facility downtime and disruptions
  • Implement methodologies to improve operational effectiveness in compliance with regulatory codes and standards
  • Assist to lead the integration of contractor partners and equipment providing support to the plant force
  • Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance and disciplinary action for your direct reports
  • Create incident reports, safety alerts, and safety training for direct reports and contractors
  • Assist in effective spare parts management, parts orders, and organizational changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint) & AutoCAD
  • Demonstrate problem solving methodology and breakdown management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required


Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance supervision
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada


Preferred Requirements

  • Possess a Journeyman ticket (electrician or millwright license)
  • Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist or Facilities Management Professional designation is an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience an asset
  • Experienced with operations and maintenance of HVAC systems, Dehumidification, Chillers, Air Compressors, Boilers, Pumps, Piping, power distribution etc.
  • Experience in property and building maintenance, repairs, renovations and equipment modifications covering structural, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience coordinating large teams (internal/contract) across multiple projects
  • Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills.
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient with strong time management skills and the ability to determine priorities
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and building codes with ability to read and understand drawings
