We are seeking a Labourer who is aspiring to reach their potential in the field of construction, reporting to the General Superintendent. J-AAR Civil Infrastructure is part of J-AAR Ltd. responsible for heavy civil contracting.

Environment

The Labourer will be required to perform tasks involving physical labour at construction projects and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the cleaning and preparation of work-sites, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, dig trenches, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris and removal of waste materials.

How You Will Make An IMPACT

  • Clean and perform preparation of work-site.
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Utilize pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt.
  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments.
  • Build and position forms.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, compact and level earth to grade specifications, using appropriate tools.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  • Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
  • Install sewer, water, and storm drain pipes, using pipe-laying machinery and laser guidance equipment.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Provide assistance to equipment operators.
  • Perform demolition work and salvage useful materials.
  • Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, rough sketches, and specifications to determine work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 2-5 years related experience preferred but not required
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs
