Commercial Credit Analyst (Permanent, Full-time)

Location: Peterborough, ON

Work Arrangement: Hybrid; Combination on-site & remote

Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Rate of Pay: Dependent on experience

As a Commercial Credit Analyst, you will:

  • Maintain solid and up-to-date knowledge of Credit Union commercial products and services, commercial credit policies and procedures, credit granting criteria and security registration documents.
  • Protect the Credit Union’s assets and maintain quality of the lending portfolio by adhering to Commercial lending processes, policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, audit requirements and established risk guidelines.
  • Ensure all Commercial Banking Business is in conformity with Credit Union policies and other guidelines.
  • Support risk management of the commercial loan portfolio as well as the quality of information, analysis, and profitability in executing Annual Reviews. Analysis including but not limited to
    • Analysis of member Financial Statements to ensure they meet Ratio covenants as set out in commitment letters;
    • Appraisal analysis to ensure security values are within policy;
    • Assessment of changes in Management and succession plan;
    • Analysis of current or changing market conditions to identify potential risk to the Commercial lending portfolio.
  • Confirming security registration, renewals, insurance, property taxes and other reporting requirements are adhered to according to commercial credit authorizations in place.
  • Liaise with professional service providers such as Central 1, lawyers, real estate appraisers, credit reporting/collection agencies and insurers, as required.
  • Develop an understanding of local markets and existing business relationships in-order to analyze the impact of changes and how they affect Commercial members.
  • Work co-operatively with all Credit Union branch or department personnel (e.g. Retail Banking, Wealth Management, Credential Financial) to identify opportunities to ensure members needs and expectations are profitably met and/or exceeded.
  • Provide timely analysis of Annual Review information, escalating member issues as necessary to the appropriate Commercial Account Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with minimum of two years banking experience. Or
  • A post-secondary education with an emphasis in Business Administration
  • Must have 2 - 5 years administration or lending experience
  • Commercial Lending experience would be an asset
  • Experience working in a financial institution would be an asset
  • Willing to take Commercial Credit related courses through CUIC/CuSource.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
