Introduction to role:

Are you ready to dive into the world of patents and intellectual property? As an Intellectual Property Specialist at AstraZeneca, you'll collaborate with our Global Intellectual Property team to deliver top-notch searching and analyses for our worldwide patent portfolio. Your role will be pivotal in supporting in-licensing opportunities, conducting novelty and patentability searches, and managing risks related to our patents. We are committed to nurturing your growth and expertise through both internal and external training opportunities.

Accountabilities:

In this dynamic role, you'll design and execute patent searches, analyze the results, and present your findings to our Global IP attorneys. Utilizing various databases and search tools, you'll ensure comprehensive searches are conducted. Your analytical skills will be key in reviewing search outcomes and summarizing insights for our IP team.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Scientific degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Technical understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including both small and large molecule therapeutics, manufacturing and process development, and drug delivery
  • Significant practical experience searching and reading scientific information
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work well both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • A curiosity to learn about patents
  • An analytical mindset, excellent attention to detail, skilled in time management, and goal oriented

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property
  • Experience with database searches using different strategies and techniques
  • Skilled at creating optimal search strategies using searching tools
  • Experience in data analysis, retrieval, mining, and/or visualization
