The Opportunity: The Family Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for direct patient care at rural and remote health centers, via telehealth, in the patient’s home and other locations as determined by the practitioner/patient. The NP supports the primary care team’s delivery of health promotion programs to individuals and groups in a variety of settings in the rural and/or remote area. The NP will deliver programs and services using a holistic model of care and practice in a culturally respectful and safe manner.

- Provides holistic, culturally informed health care to patients across the lifespan from within a primary care team that may consist of Elders, social workers, nurses, physicians, and allied health care professionals
- Diagnoses and treat disorders and conditions within the statuatory and regulatory standards, limitis and conditions of BCCNM and CSFS policies and procedures.
- Monitors ongoing care, orders appropriate screening diagnostic investigations; interprets reports of investigations and analyzes information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
- Provides detailed information to patients about health findings/diagnoses and outcomes and prognoses, possible side effects, aftercare maintenance, or preventative care methods
What You Will Bring To The Role
- Current registration as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) & the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
- Successful completion of the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) and the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Centre)/ American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) examinations or a candidate for completion under a provisional license;
- British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) -Provincial Opioid Addictions Treatment Support Program (POATSP) for preacribing Opioid Agonist Therapy and Prescribed Safe Supply (OAT/PSS), or willing to obtain
- CPR (level C)
