As our Business Performance and Finance Manager, you’ll create financial models with MS Excel for analyzing large amounts of financial data and convert the financial analysis into quantitative and qualitative information to aid the business decision-making process. You’ll also produce high-quality written documents, such as applications and responses to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) regulators and interveners, regarding the financial analysis.

In year 1, you will:

  • Understand the organizational structure, key stakeholders, and the role of Customer Service in the broader business.
  • Gain familiarity with regulatory frameworks, SOX compliance, and internal financial systems (SAP, Business Warehouse).
  • Familiarize, support, and maintain regulatory performance and internal metrics
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support the development of financial models and provide basic analysis of departmental finances.
  • Contribute to monthly and annual cost and service quality reporting.

In year 2, you will:

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for Customer Service and related departments.
  • Provide financial oversight and guidance to managers, ensuring compliance with SOX and internal controls.
  • Independently develop and present financial models and scenario analyses.
  • Take a lead role in preparing regulatory applications and responses to information requests.
  • Provide strategic input into rate design and revenue requirement filings.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline is required.
  • An Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent) from a recognized program is preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of recent, related experience in a financial leadership or analytical role.
  • Experience in a utility, regulated industry, or customer service environment is an asset but not required.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License is required.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
