What you'll do
As the Chief Supply Chain Officer, you are a key member of the Finance, Technology and Supply Chain leadership team reporting to the Executive Vice-President Finance, Technology, Supply Chain and Chief Finance Officer. You are responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations of the organization. The team of approximately 160 employees is province-wide and includes a mix of office and field-based workers across all affiliations with functions ranging from souring, category management, contract and supplier management, supporting major infrastructure project and programs, managing accounts payable, and inventory warehouse and fleet operations. The CSCO develops and executes strategies that enhance operational efficiency, create a strong safety culture, and ensures the timely delivery of services, materials, and vehicles across all of BC Hydro and throughout our province.
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and implement a forward-looking supply chain strategy aligned with BC Hydro’s enterprise-wide objectives.
* Make strategic decisions that manage supply chain outcomes and long-term planning aligned with the Strategic Action Plan.
* Provide data-driven recommendations based on supply chain trends and insights to strengthen overall business strategy.
* Evaluate company practices against leading industry standards to maintain a competitive edge and drive continuous improvement.
* Build strategic partnerships with peer utilities and organizations to advance supply chain innovation, system enhancements, and industry wide best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Represent BC Hydro in high-level engagements with key stakeholders including the Shareholder, Executive Team, First Nations, suppliers, contractors, regulatory bodies, unions and educational institutions.
* Ensure internal and external stakeholder needs are met through strategic supply chain initiatives.
Operational Excellence
* Oversee the performance and objectives of Category Management, Procurement, Materials Management, and Fleet Services.
* Lead the development and implementation of innovative solutions to complex, organization-wide supply chain challenges.
Safety & Culture
* Champion a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting safe work practices.
People Leadership
* Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Supply Chain Group
* Support and encourage collaboration and peer relationships across departments and KBU’s to support and strengthen new ways of working together.
* Align Supply Chain initiatives with the organization's strategic objectives, ensuring that all levels within the Supply Chain team understand and contribute to the broader vision.
Technical Expertise
* Empower teams to serve as the organization’s authoritative voice on supply chain matters.
* Provide expert guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on technical and strategic supply chain issues.
What you bring
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
* 10+ years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles.
* An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
* Proven track record of managing complex supply chains and delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, and service.
* Strong knowledge of supply chain technologies, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data analytics tools.
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Exceptional relationship management abilities.
* Experience in change management and leading through transformation.
* Experience in procurement, logistics, contract management, and/or transportation is considered an asset.
What else you should know
* Please note there will be a requirement to travel for site visits, meetings and at times conferences.
* Please note this role is classified as a Hybrid role under the flexible work model, which currently includes a mix of working from home and working in the office. At present, this role is expected to work in the office a minimum of two days per week however at times it could be more frequent due to operational requirements and does require flexibility.
