As the Team Lead, Product Marketing, you will be responsible for leading a team of Product Marketing Managers in the execution of go-to-market (GTM) strategies, product lifecycle marketing, and customer messaging initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Product Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in aligning product marketing strategy with business objectives, enabling cross-functional readiness, and driving customer engagement and revenue growth across SMART’s product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Marketing Managers to foster skill development, achieve team goals and individual growth.
- Prioritize initiatives across team workloads, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and resource availability.
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between product management, sales, and marketing teams to ensure efficient execution of GTM plans.
- Act as the first level of support and guidance for product launches, resource and campaign development, product messaging and strategic initiatives.
- Leads tactical execution of integrated product marketing and communications plans across all stages of the product lifecycle (launch, growth, sustain, and End of Life).
- Develop, review and refine product messaging to ensure it resonates with target audiences, aligns with product positioning, and supports commercial success.
- Work closely with Product Management to shape the GTM roadmap and ensure cross-team efficiency and timely product readiness for market launch.
- Create as well as oversee the team’s development of communications, sales tools and marketing materials that support the success of strategic initiatives and commercial teams.
- Drive the creation of high-impact messaging, presentations, and website content through collaboration with stakeholders.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on team and project performance, using data to optimize ongoing marketing efforts and support strategic decision-making.
- Gather customer (end-customer and channel) insights, pain points, and use cases through sales feedback, customer research and industry study and use insights to influence product roadmap planning.
- Demonstrate strong technical acumen to deeply understand products and effectively partner with product management on positioning, feature launches, and roadmap alignment.
- Act as a product evangelist, being able to show and tell the value of SMART products.
- Represent the product marketing team in customer meetings, industry events, and internal briefings as a thought leader and product specialist.
- Perform other duties as required to support the strategic goals of SMART.
- 7+ years of marketing experience, with at least 4 years in a product marketing role in the tech industry.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading or mentoring teams, preferably in a B2B environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
- Proven success in launching tech products and driving cross-functional alignment.
- Technical acumen
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field.
- Fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
- Primarily office-based role in Calgary, Alberta with work from home flexibility
- Travel, domestic and international, up to 40%, as needed.
- This position has direct reports.
