Job summary: Full-time dedicated Driver focused on local deliveries on behalf of Johnston Equipment. The local truck driver’s responsibilities include loading and arranging goods inside the company truck based on the order of delivery, answering customers' questions, and notifying management of customer complaints. Driver should also be able to adjust local travel routes in instances of traffic congestion, road maintenance and accidents.

- Responsible for the safe execution of deliveries and pick-ups per local dispatch plan.
- Accountable for maintaining logbooks (ELD) and delivery paperwork.
- Conducting daily vehicle inspections, safety checks (pre & post trip inspections) and oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment.
- Loading and unloading trucks, ensuring loads are evenly distributed and secure.
- Safely driving cargo to its destination, monitoring traffic and road conditions.
- Obeying all road safety and transportation laws.
- Maintaining logbooks/ELDs and delivery paperwork.
- Effectively communicate with customers, dispatch, management and warehouse staff.
- Securing cargo and dealing with hazardous materials safely, as needed.
- Communicating with dispatchers and other management using iPhones or computers.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions, troubleshoot equipment, and find new routes when needed.
- Operate and drive 26’ Roll-off truck to transport goods and materials mainly on local routes and short interurban routes.
- Work Safe and follow Health & Safety PPE Standards. Report concerns/observations/suggestions and deviances to Supervisor.
- A valid AZ license with minimum 3+ years driving experience in a commercial fleet.
- An outstanding driving record without accidents or major traffic violations.
- Experience working with ELDs, specifically Geotab (Electronic Logging Device).
- Experience working with forklifts and/or transportation of dangerous goods.
- Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
- Knowledge of blocking/bracing practices and ability to demonstrate safe load securement practices.
- Excellent customer service, friendly and approachable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions, troubleshoot equipment, and find new routes when needed.
- Self-motivated, positive thinker, with the ability to adapt to change.
- Ability to take direction from dispatch, management and other drivers.
- Demonstrate punctuality and ensure that all local deliveries are completed in a timely manner.
- Will be required to complete “Safety on the Move” (fork lift driver training), Federal HOS Training (Hours of Service) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods training.
- GED, High School Diploma or higher
Education
- AZ driver's license is required
- 3+ years driving a commercial truck
- Bilingual - French & English
