Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Foreperson will be responsible for overseeing a team of licensed Heavy-Duty Technicians, Apprentices and support staff at our Fleet shop located in Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Foreperson will be responsible for overseeing a team of licensed Heavy-Duty Technicians, Apprentices and support staff at our Fleet shop located in Calgary, AB.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge of repairs needed for communication to technicians
- Accurate repair or trouble shooting scope.
- Information from operations clarified and relayed
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting
- Ensure repairs are being completed in a timely manner and on budget
- Supervise a staff of licensed technicians, and apprentices.
- Train and mentor junior technicians, leading by example.
- Coding and approval of technician’s timesheets and work requisitions.
- Open, update, and closing workorders
- Daily truck inspections
- Service reports
- BBOs
- Safety opportunities
- JHA
- Supervise and coordinate all daily work processes. Working with Technicians & Operations to prioritize repairs, as not to hinder company productivity.
- Coordinate offsite subcontractors for repairs, and safety certifications.
- As directed by Service Manager
- Coordinate and dispatch technicians for repairs of onsite vehicles/equipment.
- Supply technicians with contact information for each task.
- Knowledge of job locations for dispatch efficiency
- Knowledge of technicians’ skillsets, to assign appropriate jobs.
- Ensure all technicians comply with company policies and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop.
- Updating service manager
- Ongoing repairs via Spreadsheet
- Source external mechanics (third Party) as required
- Notify service manager of any costs that exceed $5000.00
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.
- Knowledge of all types of vehicles/equipment within the road construction fleet, such as excavators, backhoes, paving equipment, trailers and various sizes and configurations of trucks.
- Minimum 10 years related construction tools and equipment maintenance experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a Shop Foreperson role.
- Experience with SAP an asset.
- Strong communication skills – oral & written.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Adaptable to work a flexible work schedule when required.
- Ability to work on-call rotation as required.
- Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
