JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Applied Bahaviour Analyst, the Board Wide Educational Assistant will:
- Support the development and implementation of educational programs in integrated settings, emphasizing:
- Behaviour Management
- Social Skills
- Positive Behaviour Supports
- Inclusive Practices
- Assist in program planning in close co-operation with the ABA Specialists, Special Education Coordinators, Principals and SERTS;
- Assist in assessment and treatment planning;
- Maintain accurate daily records;
- Provide direct peer support to enhance behavioural outcomes for students;
- Travel required and
- Other related duties.
- 2 or 3 year Community College Diploma in any of the following: Educational Assistant, Autism and Behaviour Management, Developmental Services Worker, Youth Worker Program, Early Childhood Education, or Social Services;
- 3-5 years of experience in a school setting; and
- Candidates must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.
- BMS Training
- Qualifications and experience with Autism and Behaviour Science;
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies;
- Experience with a variety of data collection methods;
- Experience with assistive technology;
- Demonstrated peer leadership in a variety of school settings;
- Experience working with individuals with ADHD/ODD and ASD; and
- Self-motivated, critical thinking, with proven team skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
