The Co-op Business Relations Specialist works directly with assigned key clients in the cooperative sector, contributing significantly to meeting the sales and retention goals for the department. This role supports the Member Relations & Co-op Business Development management team by compiling and analysing data, organising and executing key meetings, developing marketing and promotional materials, conducting research and participating in a variety of projects.

The Co-op Business Relations Specialist works directly with assigned key clients in the cooperative sector, contributing significantly to meeting the sales and retention goals for the department. This role supports the Member Relations & Co-op Business Development management team by compiling and analysing data, organising and executing key meetings, developing marketing and promotional materials, conducting research and participating in a variety of projects.
How You Will Create Impact
- Build meaningful reports that help Co-operators understand their progress in achieving their desire to be the insurance provider of choice in the co-op sector and progress toward Member Benefit Program (MBP) goals
- Collaborate with internal partners to be certain the external marketing/promotion templates and materials available are up to date and effective for MBP
- In consultation with individual Co-op Business Development Managers, use templates to build member-organization specific sales and marketing plans and contribute to their implementation
- Draft/write specialty internal and external marketing/promotion pieces that are focused on sales
- Lead ongoing maintenance and process enhancement implementation of marketing/promotion documents stored on internal and external web-sites (Source and cooperators.ca)
- Write and assist the team in writing internal and external communications
- Develop and support training for Co-op Identity strategic focus and members
- Project manages key member meetings. Responsible for tracking roles and responsibilities of those involved; evaluates and recommends solutions for continual process improvement
- Develop and actively maintain highly effective relationships with internal cross-company and cross-department resources that can assist in solving problems

- You have completed a University Degree in a related field (Business, Marketing, Communications) with three years’ related business experience in sales and relationship management, marketing and communications, data analysis and reporting, managing corporate programs and initiatives, or a combination of these.
- You are working towards Chartered Insurance Designation (CIP) and/or Canadian Risk Management (CRM).
- You have the ability to liaise with external stakeholders and community members and act as a trusted and respected. ambassador for the department and the organization.
- Strong computer/technology skills including use of the Internet, Microsoft 365 expert user-all programs, Salesforce, Zoom, SurveyMonkey, Adobe Software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
- Knowledge of Co-operators systems (CGIC product, Salesforce, other core product systems (SGIC, Federated, CLIC, etc.), and internal partner processes (EPPO, Marcom) is required.
- Experience and knowledge relating to the strategic priorities of The Co-operators group of companies, governance of co-operative and non-profit business models, and the insurance industry in general.
- Ability to influence while maintain credibility and keep information confidential.
- Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
- This role requires continuous dexterity where speed and accuracy are essential, and tasks are repetitious. (i.e. data entry) as well as continuous intense visual or auditory concentration (i.e. data analysis).
