Role description:
As Software Quality Engineering Manager, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality software products that meet customer and business needs. This position is critical in driving our transformation towards a high-performing, automation-first QA practice, enabling continuous delivery, improving DORA metrics, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across a global QA function.
You will be a key enabler of innovation and operational excellence in the Product Development organization, ensuring seamless collaboration across QA hubs, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
This role reports to the Global Software Engineering Director.
Role accountabilities:
You will lead the Quality Assurance (QA) function within our Product Development organization, overseeing QA operations across three global hubs (Canada, India, and Serbia). This position combines deep technical expertise with leadership skills to drive improvements in automation coverage, streamline QA processes, bridge gaps in client-side deployments, and enhance monitoring and production visibility.
This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product Management, UX, Data, and Solutions), as well as mentoring and upskilling QA teams to foster continuous learning and growth.

The salary range for this position is $114.000-$163.000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strategic direction for the QA function, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and values.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of QA across the three hubs in Canada, India, and Serbia, ensuring seamless collaboration and adherence to best practices.
- Lead initiatives to improve DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, and MTTR).
- Identify and implement tools and processes for test automation, including functional, performance, and regression testing.
- Spearhead the transformation to continuous delivery practices, working closely with engineering teams to integrate QA into CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve monitoring and visibility into production environments, ensuring rapid identification and resolution of quality issues.
- Define and implement QA processes to reduce defects during development, UAT phases and production.
- Mentor, coach, and upskill QA hub leads and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration between QA, Engineering, Product Management, and the Solutions team to ensure alignment and seamless delivery.
- Define and enforce quality standards, processes, and KPIs across the organization.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve QA processes and tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in test automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, SpringBootTest) and tools.
- Strong technical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery practices.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and production visibility tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Grafana).
- Deep knowledge of Agile methodologies and a track record of driving DORA metrics improvements.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills to develop high-performing teams.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities to foster collaboration across engineering teams, QA hubs, and other stakeholders.
- Experience in bridging gaps between internal QA processes and client-side deployment/UAT efforts
- Technical proficiency in modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their QA implications.
- Experience with performance testing and security testing practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong learning agility, balanced with curiosity, a passion for driving success, and igniting innovation within teams.
