PROFILE
As the Business Development (BD) Coordinator for our International portfolio, you will play a key role in supporting the Firm’s international market growth. You will help deliver business development and go-to-market strategies that enhance our engagement with international-based clients, prospects, and key industry stakeholders. With a data-driven approach and growth mindset, you will provide insights, ideas, and support targeted initiatives to maximize opportunities for international client expansion, relationship development, and revenue growth, working closely with and supporting our International BD Managers and stakeholders.
This role requires a driven, proactive and highly organized individual to enable strong cross-functional collaboration with BD colleagues, marketing teams, global counterparts, and partners to align international initiatives across markets with Firm-wide strategies and ensure seamless execution of high-impact business development activities.
This role can be based in Ottawa or Toronto.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Business Development & Market Growth
- Coordinate and activate International-focused business development strategies that align with firm-wide priorities and revenue objectives.
- Regularly share and leverage market intelligence and data analytics to recommend areas of focus to international-focused BD managers and drive client growth opportunities.
- Support international go-to-market initiatives, ensuring alignment with key sectors, practice groups, and firm priorities, in addition to maintaining the integrated activity calendar to ensure coordination and maximum value.
- Monitor, measure, and report on key business development activities, tracking progress to plan and ensuring initiatives remain on budget.
Client Targeting & Relationship Development
- Conduct client and market analysis to identify priority international clients, prospects, and business opportunities.
- Support BD Managers and client teams in outreach, cross-selling strategies, and account development to drive engagement and revenue growth.
- Contribute client-focused recommendations based on competitive intelligence, industry trends, and market opportunities.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Communications or other teams as needed in the preparation and execution of materials.
Sales Mission & Event Strategy
- Coordinate and support country desks with targeted overseas trips, preparing for meetings, and accurate tracking in sales reports to maximize client engagement and impact. Track and recommend key industry events, trade associations, and conferences to elevate the firm’s international presence.
Data-Driven Insights & Best Practices
- Effectively and proactively use our CRM, including regularly inputting information, and analytics tools to track business development efforts and client interactions, equipping stakeholders with needed information and effectively building pipeline.
- Analyze and interpret business development data to refine strategies and provide actionable recommendations.
Stakeholder & Financial Stewardship
- Assist with budgets and financial reporting for international initiatives, tracking expenditures and ROI to inform decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Professional Background
- Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field.
- 3-5 years of business development and marketing experience in a professional services, law firm or corporate environment.
- Proactive, growth mindset with a strong sense of accountability and focus on excellence.
- Experience using CRM systems and analytics tools to track business development efforts and measure success, with comfort using AI and technology to create efficiencies and high-quality deliverables.
Project Management & Financial Oversight
- Extremely organized with strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders.
Communication & Relationship Management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, to assist with internal briefings and other business development materials.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and colleagues.
Collaboration & Global Perspective
- Natural collaborator with the ability to work cross-functionally with virtual and geographically dispersed teams with ease to drive BD success.
- Understanding of and interest in global business development dynamics and ability to align international initiatives with broader international strategies.
Adaptability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
